Description
English cherry-wood saved from a carving project abandoned in the 1980s.
Small italic like this is probably the most technically demanding alphabet to carve, and though it takes a long time, Wenham finds it very enjoyable.
The words are from Poem XXXII of A Shropshire Lad by A.E Housman (1895-1936).
A free copy of Martin Wenham’s new book Martin Wenham The Art of Letter Carving, published by Crowood Press (price £25), will accompany each purchase from the exhibition.
