Description
Hambleton Wood, Hambleton Peninsular, Rutland, winter sunshine.
The ironstone rocks on the water’s edge formed a coastline to Rutland Water along parts of the Peninsula. The scale and range of shapes, colours and details were contrasted with the details of the small plants between the rocks and the leaves left behind from last autumn which were revealed as I climbed amongst them. The bare branches and the skeleton trees were only hinted at as it was the lake that dominated the view in its cold grey against the warmth of the rocks.
