…the standing man …Despite their upright pose, they face us like mirrors of our own vulnerability: the bathing trunks and slight awkwardness remind us of children being made to hold still for a snapshot on the beach. They are memories of long ago, yet they also carry us towards an unknown future; divided by the line of time, simultaneously here and somewhere else.
